Mother and Community Leader: Saba Hakim

At 33, Saba made a bold choice: stepping away from a thriving career in commercial law to answer a deeper calling. It wasn't an easy decision, but it was the right one. As a mother of three young children, she found herself reflecting on her own journey: arriving in Newcastle, NSW as a teenager, navigating school as the only Muslim student in the entire school. That experience of isolation, and her longing to create something different for her own children, became her compass.

With her husband's steadfast support and over two decades woven into community work, Saba's path has unfolded into something truly exciting. She's now a mother to three adult children and one wonderfully cheeky tween - and her life's work reflects a constant evolution alongside her family and community. From parenting circles to Arabic language classes; from weekly Islamic workshops to Quranic reflection sessions for young and old; from relationship guidance to marriage mentoring, she has grown in all of it.

In recent years, Saba founded Mawadda Families, a holistic space dedicated to marriage preparation, relationship nurturing, and family wellbeing grounded firmly in Islamic values. A cornerstone of Mawadda's work is developing coaching materials and training programs for marriage coaches that draw directly from Quranic teachings as foundation materials; whilst using scientifically proving coaching tools to support this spiritual foundation.

As a Good Beginnings Coach, Saba brings together her rich tapestry of experiences: the precision of her legal background, the warmth of her community connections, and the depth of her understanding of what families truly need. Her work with couples and families reflects this rare blend: offering practical guidance, real communication skills, and a lived knowledge of what it means to build something meaningful together.
